Match Day – December 21, 2019 – Day/Night Match (20-Overs Match) – According to the Big Bash 9 Roster – the sixth match of Big Bash T20 played between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunders at Manuka Oval Cricket Ground. Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunders – Match abandoned at Canberra due to bushfire smoke, and the first game for Adelaide Strikers ended in no result.
Sydney Thunders won the toss and elected to bowl first at Canberra. Jonathan Wells played well and scored his very first half-century of the BBL 9 season. Alex Carry and Jake Weatherald scored 45 runs and 42 respectively. Danial Sams and Jonathan Cook picked up two wickets in first innings.
The BBL match in Canberra ended in no result between Sydney Thunders and Adelaide Strikers when devastating bushfire ragged over the city. Umpires suspended play due to poor visibility and air quality. Thunders started their batting with the loss of Usman Khawaja wicket but played suspended before the power play ends.

BBL 9 Match 6 Results – 1st Innings
Phil Salt and Jake Weatherald opened the batting innings for Adelaide Strikers and quickly lost Salt wicket on the second last ball of the very first over. Salt opened the batting by facing first delivery and after play four consecutive dot balls he dismissed by Daniel Sam with a wrong shot. Matt Short came to bat at number 3 but couldn’t add something to Strikers scorecard and lost his wicket too at 8-2 in 1.4 overs.
Adelaide Strikers skipper Alex Carry and Weatherald played sensibly and added 60 runs in their partnership with 68-3. Jonathan Wells played an exceptional inning of 55 runs with five boundaries and two mighty sixes.
Daniel Sams and Chris Morris picked up two wickets each while Sams bowled a maiden over. Jonathan Cook dismissed Matt Short in his first over of bowling spell and conceded 40 runs in four overs. Chris Tremain, Chris Green and Arjun Nair unsuccessful with the breakthrough.

BBL 9 Match 6 Results – 2nd Innings
Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales opened up the batting inning for Sydney Thunders in the chase of 161 runs in their 0vers. Thunders lost Khawaja wicket in very first over second delivery of Billy Stanlake. Thunders skipper Callum Ferguson came to bat at number 3rd, and he added 41 runs in partnership with Alex Hales.
Due to adverse weather play suspended in 6th over before the completion of powerplay on second innings. Billy Stanlake picked up the single wicket of UT Khawaja. Strikers used four bowlers in the first five overs Stanlanke, Perter Siddle, Wes Agar, and Rashid Khan.
