While batting first Renegades set a target of 169/5 competitive total with Shuan Marsh 42 runs off 33 balls. Daniel Sams picked up two wickets for his team during the first innings of the match. Alex Hales and Usman Khawaja started their innings with an average run rate of 9 runs/over. Thunder recorded their first win with six wickets over Renegades.
Player of the match Alex Hales smashed 68 runs off 38 balls with eight boundaries and two mighty sixes. Hales and Khawaja set up a partnership of 99 runs in 11.5 overs. Both wrapped up the game within few overs – Hales got out at 147-3 in 16.2 overs. Harry Gurney picked up two wickets in his four overs spell.

BBL 9 Match 3 Results – 1st Innings
While batting first Sam Harper and Aaron Finch open batting innings for Melbourne Renegades during 3rd match of the Big Bash League 2019-20. Renegades utilised powerplay very effectively – started innings with 55 runs in 4.6 overs when first wicket loss. Sam Harper got out after scoring 39 runs off 19 balls with four boundaries and two sixes as well.
Renegades lost the second wicket at 76-2 in eight overs – Shaun Marsh came out to bat. Marsh played a stunning knock of 42 runs and build a partnership with Tom Cooper and lead the target to 135-4 wickets. Renegades ended the innings 169 after losing five wickets in maximum 20 overs.
Daniel Sams and Arjun Nair were successful with two wickets for each in three overs, and four overs spell. Sams dismissed two batsman Sam Harper and Dan Christian in his first and last spell. Nathan McAndrew bowled three overs and got single wicket by conceding 19 runs. Three bowlers remained unsuccessful for breakthroughs.

BBL 9 Match 3 Results – 2nd Innings
While chasing a total of 169 runs in 20 overs – Hales and Khawaja took Thunders game with nine runs per over. Sydney Thunders lost their first wicket at 99 runs when UT Khawaja got out at 66 runs of 46 balls with eight boundaries and single six. The skipper of Thunder Callum Ferguson came out to bat at number 3rd and got out early.
Alex Hales lost their 3rd wickets at 147-3 in 17th over of the game. Thunder chased down the target with 171-4 in 19.4 overs and won the game by six wickets and two balls remaining to the game. Thunders recorded their first win over Renegades in the 3rd match of the KFC Big Bash League 2019 – 20.
Harry Gurney picked up two wickets by dismissing Khawaja and Hales by conceding 26 runs. Gleeson dismissed skipper Callum Ferguson in his 3.4 overs spell by conceding 36 runs. Renegades used three bowlers in their bowling innings of which four remained unsuccessful in dismissing the batsman.
